@1337Ninja3000 He didn't impersonate a British captain, he was a privateer for the British. Privateer's were employed by kings to attack foreign ships, or more specifically, ships belonging to enemies of the crown.

In the new movie, Barbossa impersonates a British captain in search for the fountain of youth, to get revenge on black beard for sinking the black pearl, killing its crew, and forcefully making Barbossa cut off his own leg to escape. In the end Gibb's has the black pearl in a bottle on a beach and Jack shows up. So basically Barbossa's Black Pearl was ransacked and bottled by Black Beard.

It totally was, this movie was about him getting the Pearl back, he did, so it wasn't pointless.

what´s the point of the first movie if barbossa FREAKING REVIVES!! i mean i love him and he is my favorite character, but jack fought 10 years to kill him, he did it , and it was worth NOTHING!
