A round-bottomed flask filled with ammonia gas fills with water when the delivery tube is put in water. Ammonia, at atmospheric pressure inside the flask, is very soluble and dissolves rapidly into water, on contact, thus reducing the pressure. The difference in pressure between the inside and the outside of the flask causes water to be forced into the flask.
