I first saw Patti Smith in 1978 at the "Catch A Rising Star" concert series at The Paramount Northwest. $2.00 to see this now legendary icon, who was just inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She is one of the original punk rockers, and at 61 years old now, is absolutely fascinating in concert. Here she is at The Showbox singing "White Rabbit".

  • Grace Slick owns this song and I think it's a really personal one so I can't enjoy anyone else singing it. Sorry!

  • Her latest album is all covers of other artist's songs. I am glad she paid tribute to Grace.

  • God, Patti Smith is amazing - I love her to bits but nobody can quite pull off the end of that song quite like Grace Slick.

  • I tottaly agree!! you could call this one "not bad", "nice try", but with grace, it's magic, it makes you chase rabbits for real till you end up screaming: FEED YOUR HEAD!! Grace rocks.. :D

  • @scarlett72nd -- you don't have to apologize to anyone. It is unfortunate that you have closed yourself off to artistic merits beyond your personal favorites, but that is your loss. I can only imagine that Grace would absolutely love Patti's rendition.

  • @canibumbacigor2 -- well said. short and to the point.

  • @scarlett72nd i agree some songs are not meant to be covered. some are. White Rabbit falls into the not covered but if anyone could pull it off it,s Patti. It was a personal biographical tune (not meant to be covered). Being that Patti and many listeners, myself included imbibed on a level such as Grace I think it's all cool.

  • why shouldn't a great singer like Patti sing this? Patti just had her 65th birthday and she still sounds great. Grace is 72 and doesn't perform. Patti is the perfect person to keep this song alive. i'm in permanent love with both those rockin women from my misspent youth

  • @treehuggingdruid When she released her first couple of albums, bands weren't called "new wave" yet. Anything different was called "punk." By Wave, their music was tamer than it had previously been and "punk" was more codified, so anything that didn't sound like the Sex Pistols or the Ramones was called "new wave."

  • God, she is Patty not Grace. Stop comparing and enjoy this rendition

  • Brilliant!

  • Orgasmic!!!

  • actually the label they had on her back in the day was new wave, not punk. but....just saying.
