PIGGIES
The Beatles
Composicao: George Harrison
White Album

Have you seen the little piggies
Crawling in the dirt?
And for all the little piggies,
Life is getting worse;
Always having dirt to
Play around in.

Have you seen the bigger piggies
In their starched white shirts?
You will find the bigger piggies
Stirring up the dirt
Always have clean shirts to
Play around in.

In their styes with all their backing,
They don't care
What goes on around.
In their eyes there's something lacking.
What they need's a damn good whacking.

Everywhere there's lots of piggies
Living piggy lives.
You can see them out for dinner
With their piggy wives.
Clutching forks and knives to
Eat their bacon.

It's called allegory, not fable. This is not some ancient tale for teaching simplified morality based on the animal deities (or any deities) of the culture which generated it, but a direct correlation to real-life events. It puts the politics which were current during the Cold War era into perspective through anthropomorphic animal characters.

Perhaps it's the DNA which we share with so many creatures which makes our variant animal-like behaviors so naturally characterized in such a way.

Erm. It's not about the police. Derp. It's about class.

In the sixties the police were often referred to as "pigs." So that should help those out who don't seem to understand what this song is really about.

Piggies was composed by George Harrison for the White Album 1968. I think it´s one of the best melodies in that album.

The pigs can be interpreted as any group of people that claim to support the common good but actually manipulate the commoners for personal gain.

Even if Orwell's particular use alluded to the Soviet regime, the symbol can apply to both the government and the wealthy; both have power, both rely on the masses to maintain their power, and both can commit abuses,
