  • I imagine that archery is pretty popular in the UK due to the crappy gun laws?

  • @SuperR3volver Archery is growing over here, which is good to see. Still a small sport, but growing.

  • @SuperR3volver Archery is growing. Still a small sport but on the rise!

  • What were you adjusting on the lower limb mount? I'm not referring to the alignment but the the first adjustment where you adjusted the lower limb mount throughout its range of 4 full turns. Is that a bow weight adjustment?

    thanks for another fine review.

    Marc

  • @fencr If it was the large black limb bolt, that is the tiller and poundage adjustment bolt. The primary use for it is to adjust the tiller, but it can be used to change the bow weight approx 10%

  • Not sure which one to go for, a Hoyt Horizon, or a Samick Vision. I like the Vision for the price and extra stabiliser bushings, but I also like the Horizon for it's lightweight and elegant design. Which would you recommend?

  • @LordVordnorf Tough question. Both are great products competeting against each other. I would be pleased to reccommend them both, which is why I picked them for reviews. The annodized finish of the Samick is a very big plus as it will look good for longer. Hoyt is the stronger brand. I would go with your heart and make the judgement based on which design you like the most. Both will perform equally well.

  • got my horizon couple of weeks ago. i am loving it.

  • I was at competition yesterday, got 1st place recurve, and I tried out one guys Hoyt horizon I have already fallen in love with the bow

  • @VideoMenu Good point man. Finally the comments section is actually useful :D

  • @dnlestrella

What I can say is that some ranges don't allow compound bows because of the damage. So that is something to think about with regards to what type of ranges you might have available to you right now. Also, what type of competitions will you be more interested in is another thing to consider. Whichever you decide, I'm sure you'll have fun!

  • @SubRosaSpear ps. And then there is a matter of "military and hunting archers" which has declined drastically as you point out. And then there is "archery as a sport" as MerlinArchery is talking about.

  • @SubRosaSpear There is "macro" and "micro". Maybe on the macro time-line, it's declined (your point "as a whole"). But on the microevolution of the sport, it's probably picking back up. Maybe that is what he is saying?
