@karinablacktie Wow, I didn't know that about her first album. Can't say as I blame her for not wanting to put up with the many downsides of fame. Much respect to her for that.

@bindi06 Actually her first album had rave reviews and a promise of a great career but she did not want to deal with stardom. She took a few years off and went back to busking on the streets. She loves sharing her music but prefers to keep a low profile. More credit to her.

There is definitely something Billy Holidayish in her voice. And boy, what she can do with it!

I first heard this on episode of Nip/Tuck and immediately fell in love with this song. Her voice reminds me, in a way, of Billie Holiday. Why are singers such as Madeleine not promoted more? What a beautiful, soulful, gifted voice.

Some years ago I got to hear her sing this and I was amazed. Her voice is awesome.

It is good, no doubt, yet the original version moves the heart and soul almost like no other piece of music. It's a different rendition, but of a song so filled with poetry, that it feels like it does no justice at all to the emotion it otherwise contains.

Spectacular. Great rendition of Leonar Cohen's superb lyrics and music. She does sound a great deal like Lady Day (Billie Holiday), still a great interpretation. Thank you.
