  • "Fairest pearl" indeed!

  • You know, he's good looking, but he's not the only tall man with dark hair and blue eyes. He's intelligent, but he's not the only one who speaks many languages. It's that pure voice and the soul that finds expression in such unaffected yet profoundly sensitive interpretations that make him so beautiful.

  • guess scholl should continue singing german baroque songs and leave renaissance and baroque italian composers songs to jaroussky. its always nice to listen mozarts peaceful songs from a countertenor

    Evening it is; the sun has vanished,

    And the moon streams with silver rays;

    Thus flee Life's fairest hours,

    Flying away as if in a dance.

    Soon away will fly Life's colorful scenes,

    And the curtain will come rolling down;

    Done is our play, the tears of a friend

    Flow already over our grave

  • @noclassatall Yes, it is.

  • Does he appear to be contemplating death?

    I would have liked more demonstration of legato singing. Adorable forte-piano sound.

  • @heringtons chillax. it's called falsetto for a reason.

  • Nice. The best version on YT IMO is Nicholas Spanos's.

  • counter tenors....

  • Abend ists, die Sonne ist verschwunden,

    Und der Mond strahlt Silberglanz;

    So entfliehn des Lebens schönste Stunden,

    Fliehn vorüber wie im Tanz ....

  • The best interpretation I have ever heard. Wonderful voice, deep emotion, perfect identify with the text.

  • @saiserieht "real singing"?!!! Do you have any idea?! Ill let Andreas Scholl know he hasn't been performing "real singing" this whole time. Im sure he'll immediately apologise for all the beautiful Handel, Purcell and all the other wonderful music he has given us, because it wasn't "real".
