http://hubpages.com/hub/Dont-Buy-Sony . I bought a Sony Bravia flat panel LCD TV in February of 2008. In August of 2010, a series of lines appeared on the bottom of the screen. The repairman said that it was a faulty panel and that Sony should replace it. Sony's customer service refused. I wrote a letter to Howard Stringer - Sony Chairman with no results. Before you buy a Sony product, you should watch my video. There are nearly 500 other videos on this site with problems similar to mine that Sony refuses to acknowledge. Bottom line, Sony sold a faulty product that it won't stand behind. Buying one of their LCD/LED, internet or 3D TVs is a poor and risky investment. • Thank you, Mr. Munoz

  • A good point. However, the performance record for LCD flat screens is deplorable. There are nearly 500 Sony fail videos on this site alone. I NEVER had to repair/replace any CRT TV I ever had.

  • Thanks for your comment! The sign and video stay up forever.

  • Thanks for the feedback, but as long as I am still breathing, the signs will stay up.

  • You got that straight!

  • Believe me, if I could work, I would. And yes, I do live in Indiana.

  • I understand that you're upset but that sign in the front yard is an eyesore and it's making the neighborhood more ghetto than it already is.

  • You don't have a job and you're complaining because your 52 inch TV broke.

    wow.

  • Out of warranty is the bottom line quit crying.

  • Way to speak out. I have a 2.75 year old 46" Sony Bravia TV that has vertical lines across it and I fear it's a panel problem. I too am never going to buy sony and I'm not going to recommend sony products to any one else.

  • @thefatkidwholikesgnr Come suck on my tube.

  • Right now, the only brands HDTV for both LCD and plasma that I'd recommend at this point are Panasonic and Sanyo (and even then they have their quirks).

  • Not just Sony.

On the whole, it seems like the majority of brands of flat panel HDTVs for both plasma and LCD are simply not as robust and as long lasting as the CRT sets they replaced.

The typical lifespan seems to be around 2-6 years for thees sets and a big part of this, IMO, is that they cut corners to extreme edges, so to speak; they use just what's needed in terms of design and parts rather than "overdesign" just a tad to give themselves a little extra margin.

  • bought a 40" sony bravia 2 weeks ago, now a week ago or even earlier several thin horizontal lines appears, even vertical appears too. I will call sony customer service today and give them hell.

  • Have a $2500 Sony LCD crapping out on me after a year plus...despite Authorized Sony Repair Tech telling me it was bad panel over the phone, and endless internet posts describing same problem, Sony required service call b4 making offer to me. $150 service call later Sony "offer" is for me to buy an inferior model for $200 less than I can get it off the street...

  • Fuck Sony!

  • I always thought sony made quality products too.. Sony sucks! I bought a Bravia 46'' and after 2 years it failed. Hey Fat Kid GnR is gay just like you!
