This was recorded in his Hotal in New York in March of 1968. Electric Lady Studios didn't open until August 26th, 1970 and he wsn' using it until June 1970. In March of 1968, Electric Lady studios was still open as "The Generation Club" I closed in the summer of '68 however and Mike Jefferies and Jimi bought it around that time

I am from the Village and remember the studio, believe it was there in '68. Jimi turned every guitarist into quivering jelly. Guitar playing leapt up about 1000 notches AfterJimi.

I don't think Electric Lady studios existed in 1968. I know Hendrix invested in the idea in 1968, but don't think it was completed until sometime in 1970. I know they ran into some problems as there was a underground spring or river that ran under the structure which led to flooding problems. It turned out to be a long, drawn out project in which Warner Brothers ended up loaning a large sum of money to save.
