First of all, excuse the soldering. I soldered and resoldered the pots and switches several times and never desoldered so it is a bit of a mess. Anyhow, although it took only a half hour or so to do my attempt at a Grateful Dead style vamp type thing (just E Mixolydian - A Major with the emphasis on E - all over the place), it took hours to do the animations, and even then I could not zoom in as I had hoped to show the detail. It is okay. Some people have video games. I have this. :p Hopefully when YT converts it to HD it will be more observable.

Nevertheless, I hope this helps the folks who recently requested info on the wiring of a G&L S-500 and the "expander switch." I am pretty sure the "expander switch" is an SPDT On/On switch. It enables the neck and bridge pickups to be activated together which is unusual for a Strat setup. It is soldered to the black wires on the neck and bridge pickups on the pickup selector. The wires are color coded for Seymour Duncans. For DiMarzios and other pickups check their websites for more info. Seymour Duncan has additional wiring ideas as of course Stew Mac.

  • uhhh, thats just standard G&L PTB wiring

  • thats not too crazy. still cool tho

  • Nice job! (although I recommend using star-grounding instead of the traditional ground loops on the back of the pots for extra sweetness... but I'm being picky)
