@MrNativeDancer I suggest you watch the dog whisperer Ceasar Millan before you make comments and do more research. I have had dogs for as long as I can remember, I grew up with some pretty big ones that my parents owned, none have ever bit any one. A dog that thinks its the boss in the house is likely to bite some one or even a severe attack, this is not acceptable by any means. Its not fair on the dog either because then they have to be put down by law if they attack some one for no reason!

@Kgoody70 No not at all. Just watch how a mother dog diciplines her puppy's! Of course you have to be the dominant pack leader, especially if you have a large dog. I raised all my big dogs like this and let me tell you they where scared of no one, just try breaking into my house see what happens to you. A dog that knows its place is not an agressive dog but respectful, I can put my hands in all my dogs dinner bowl when they feeding they just wag tails and carry on feeding, no fear just respect

Those of you who think you need to "dominate" your dog need to educate yourselves on the latest studies of "domination." All this vet is teaching is how to make your dog fearful and eventually will probably become more aggressive toward you.

Everyone here is saying that this doctor is wrong but no one tells how to properly train the puppy not to aggressively bite. How do puppies and dogs get trained in the wild? I have also had a vet tell me the same thing and he has wonderful dogs. Thanks

This causes pain and fear in your dogs I'd never do this to a dog.

Absolutely ridiculous. That is completely the wrong thing to do when a puppy is biting you. Disgusting.
In a dogs world it's about dominate. If you don't let your dog know your the dominate person. He/she will always challenge you. Watch videos of multiple dogs and you will see dominate dog always pins down the one that challenges him. You have to act and speak dog language.

@MrNativeDancer And one more thing, my dogs will follow me every where, if they feared me they would run away. Please watch how wild dogs deal with each other. its by growling and if that dont work then they bite. I am not saying to beat a dog up, but you have to make sure they know humans in the house hold are the leaders even a 2 year old kid should be able to tell a dog to sit and the dog should respond. Its about being a respectful owner that knows about dog psychology and how they work!
