http://www.stormfrontmedia.com Clunky 1960s short style sci-fi movie animated in 3D by Neal as a student at Melbourne's RMIT University (Australia). Created in Lightwave with supporting graphics in After Effects and Photoshop. Edited in FinalCut Pro. Rendering time 41 days (2 G4 Macs, 1 Pentium 4 PC). Total production time including planning, approximately 7 months.
This movie was influenced by "Star Wars", "Lost In Space" and other shows of the genre. It was made as a kind of political cartoon, commenting on the manner in which the Australian Government of the day handled the influx of refugees trying to reach northern Australian shores in small boats. The government's 'Pacific solution' resulted in most refugees being held for lengthy periods in detention centres in the Australian outback, Christmas Island and Naru.
Some refugees have since been processed for permanent residency, but many have been sent back to where they came from. Attempted arrivals by 'boat people' still continue today, many as the exploited 'customers' of profit-driven people smugglers.
