Time Sculptures are a crossdisciplinary experiment involving dance and media art. They visually explore the relationship of time, space motion and form. By redefining the relationship between time and space, the viewer experiences a transdimensional viewpoint „through time", an unique and entirely new view on the motion and interaction between the two dancers.

The „Time Sculpture" is to be displayed on a Philips 42" 3D Display which reveals a third dimension without requiring the viewer to wear any glasses or technical aids. As spacial sculpture built with light instead of matter it constantly flows through 3D space along the future and past of its motion.

  • I've checked out other time slicing videos, and I think I now understand how this is made.

  • Yeah, the idea is simple. However, contrary to most time slicing videos the transformation is calculated directly onto the 3D mesh and then rendered. The engine is not restricted to line-by-line shifts or pixels, any time slicing rule can be defined mathematically in 3D space. The motion source is a motion capture performance.
