New Delhi, 3 Jan (ANI): National Award winning director Shyam Benegal who is known for films like 'Zubeida', 'Ankur', 'Mammo' and 'Sardari Begum' is busy these days in completing his romantic comedy 'Mahadev'. But it seems Benegal now wants to break free from the low budget circle and venture into bigger sets and costlier costumes. After wrapping Mahadev, Benegal is keen on a big budget film based on the life of Gautam Buddha. The Akbar of tinsel town, Hrithik Roshan, is being roped in for this role.

Buddha was born in Nepal. He came to Kathmandu valley during King Jitedasti. King Jitedasti was a 7th King from Kirat dynasty. And yeah Ashoka never ruled Nepal because Kirat at that time were very strong. Kirat only succumbed to Licchavis in around 330AD during King Gasti who was 29th Kirat King.

Indians want to owe everything but doesn't value anything.... undoubtedly Buddhism is the religion that goes with natural philosophy and modern science but only 1% of indians follow it while over 70% in neighboring countries (except Pakistan and Bangladesh) follow Buddhism.

The Nepalese can fuck off its only ortodox Buddhism and Theravada Buddhism which is true Buddhism the nepalese can keep themself to their dalai lama.

Lord was from aryan descendant and most research confirm that he had even blue eyes and was very similar to Persian aryans who migrated to India. The nepalese are liars they dont even belie in the pure form of Buddhism they worshipp Dalai lama intead. Buddhisms history starts mainly from Gaya ji and not Lumbini.The mongoloid came to Tibet and Nepal mostly after Khubilai Khan reign in China.

@diliprai thanks for describing how a modern Kirata looks like. But we are discussing the Buddha not the Kirata. According to Buddhist scriptures the Buddha does not look like a Mongoloid Nepali. All the Mongoloid Nepalis I have seen never have goldish-wheatish skin, usually they are pale-light skinned. Regardless, I have given you direct quotes from Buddhist scriptures describing what the Buddha looked like, and he certainly was not Mongoloid by any stretch of the imagination

Kiratas- Mongoloid race are first mentioned in the Yajurveda (Shukla XXX.16; Krisha III.4,12,1), and in the Atharvaveda (X.4,14), describing them as "mountain people and hunters in the forests and deadly warriors."
Kiratas appearance in vedic literature is described as gold-like, i.e, yellow in color in skin color with the following verse.
"Kairatam vesam asthaya kancana-druma-sannibham"
Taking up a Kirata resemblance, like unto a tree of gold (IV,35,2);

@diliprai This quote you have written is taken out of context by you. It is a quote from Nepalis nationalists use in order to describe the Sakya not Buddha. But according to Buddhist texts:
-the Buddha had very blue eyes (Pali: abhi nila netto)
-His body hair is blue-black, and curls clockwise in rings. (Pali: uddhagalomo)NOTE mongolic Nepali people dont' have body hair!
-His skin is the color of gold (Pali: suva n nava no) NOTE mongolic Nepalis are pale light skinned not yellow golden coloured
