I lived my life like a freeman,

Didn't want to follow Mama's rules.
But suddenly I got the devil's disease,
Got my wages for doing what I please.

My Mama had her praying knees on.

Elijah to come along.

Mama waiting patient at the front yard gate,
Letting dew collect on her brow.
Big hearted Mama set her eyes on the road,
Knowing he was coming somehow.

Along come the Parson singing "One of Them",
He had Memphis dust on his shoes.
Mama said, "Been waiting on you since early morn,
In there a dying is my only first born."

are getting way too high.

Parson weren't too big to come in our front door,
Saw me on my self-made bed.
Said he was a Parson who prayed for the sick,
Mama wanted my Soul instead.
Mama did her praying, Parson bowed his head,
Then the Parson started praying,
Don't rightly know just what he said,

sea is starting to calm.

About a year later, I saw Parson Bill.
At the train station
"I know it's you Parson Branham and
there's something I just got to tell.
You remember me Parson Branham?
Not only was I healed,
But I'ze saved too
cause I got that something real !"
