PART 2: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=JdjLVAZqCmA
PART 3: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=ki6Atk5iMmg

FINAL EFFECT CAN BE SEEN HERE: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=C5rxjk5rqAI

This tutorial shows you how to create the liquid metal effect as seen in Terminator 2. To do this tutorial, you must have Maya 2009, because of the new nParticles feature.

I apologize if you don't think I'm very good at this whole video tutorial thing, this was my first try.

The resources it mentions in the tutorial can be downloaded here: http://www.freewebs.com/coldsidedigital/resources.zip

If you use this tutorial and make a cool effect, or even if you just make whats in this tutorial, please post it as a video response, I would love to see peoples work.

Feel free to leave comments asking questions, even if its not about this tutorial in general. Requests for tutorials will also be accepted.

You can find the Video-FX-Universe forum mentioned in the tutorial here: http://s7.invisionfree.com/Video_Fx_Universe/

EDIT: Forgot to mention a big thanks to Cheesewiz from CGTalk. He showed me the method used in this tutorial. The post can be found here: http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=86&t=698431

So sorry for not mentioning you earlier!

  • Why would you guys make tutorials i think everyone that spends a lot of money for maya, are already proffesionals.

Not me i have a crack xD

  • @nible1996 And how do people become professionals in Maya, without first having used it? Student versions and trial versions can be used to get up to speed.

Users may also come from a previous 3d application, be moving to Maya and because of the differences between applications may need to see how techniques are done in Maya.
