Hope is a 5 month old female Virginia Opossum. Due to lead poisoning, and other medical issues, Hope is being cared for and treated by the Volunteers for Wildlife, a not-for profit organization in Long Island, New York.

  • Lead poisoning is transmitted to wild animals in several ways. Here are some of the more common reasons. 1) getting shot with a bb gun with lead bullets 2) eating a smaller animal that was shot or ate a lead bb 3) during early development in mother's pouch who has been poisoned.
