  • i want to upgrade mine to this, but just like other models, it won't include ps2 compatibility and linux will be removed. I have linux installed on the 320GB HDD of my ps3, but i got all excited thinking it was gonna include ps2 compatibilty. oh well, that's why it's only worth 300 though. but the best thing is that this one weights less and won't get scratched up. is there anyone who's thinking of buying this and selling the old one as well? i need to know if the HDD will be the same size.

  • The slim will use the same (standard laptop size) HDD that the original uses.

  • thanks. it's good to here the HDD will be the same size just in case i want to but the slimmer. i just found out the next update 3.0 won't allow ps2 compatibility though. do u know if sony's planning to allow it some other way?

  • I don't think so. There was an article yesterday on Engadget that quoted Sony's director of hardware marketing as saying: PS2 backwards compatibility "is not coming back, so let me put that on the table"

  • but that's screwed up. my ps2 that i got from day 1 when i was very young is now broken. i don't want to have to buy another one and have to disconnect to play the other. i think what sony should do is not include an update to allow compatibility, but they should sell a ps2 compatibilty disk that u can get for 30 or 40 bucks to install on one ps3. at least they can get serious money from that. but even though it's a good idea, they probably won't listen to me. i mean, i would buy it.

  • I'm pretty sure if Sony could make an update to add PS2 BC, they would. I guess we'll just have to wait and see if they add it in the future. In the meantime, if you need to play PS2 games, just get either the old 80GB model or the 60gb model on eBay. You should be able to find one for the same price or less than the new slim model.

  • Worlds greatest gaming system MY FUCKING ASS !!

  • loooooook ps3 ps3 games ps3 doesnt have the same hard drive as ps2 they wouldve if they knew how too put 3 masive hard drive in 1 slim

  • Please tell me, what is the price in malaysia???

  • exactly like y would u want to by a ps3 if u wanna play ps2 games and dey r so corny now !

  • if they have a "back catalog" of games they more than likely have the ps2 as well, I was just saying the fact that they took out backwards compatibility isn`t a big deal because you wanted a ps3 to play the new ps3 games, just like i think the whole playstation store with ps1 games for downloads is kind of stupid because you bought a new system, might as well get the new games to play

  • About fucking time

  • People don't want to have to buy a separate system just to play there back catalog of games.
