There is such a thing as a movie being funny bad, but Battlefield Earth is not one of those movies. It's just bad. I don't think it's as bad as most people seem to do, although not by much. It's poorly written and poorly acted, which I hate to say because two very good actors (Barry Pepper and Forest Whitaker) are in it. It is what happens when filmmakers try to say something with their films instead of just trying to tell a good story.

Well, even the "best" in this genre have BIG plot holes. Star Wars... Since the Death Star must be capable of "hyper-space," why so long just to move around a giant planet to take a shot at rebel base? If the idea is to drop a bomb into an exhaust port on the surface of a big sphere, why fly through a long trench a break-neck speed to get there? The Empire only has Vader and two other pilots?
But great movies make us forget (or ignore) those things while watching. Battlefield Earth does not.

I may have to go rent this now for a laugh, but if you're looking for another crappy movie I suggest Street Racer, although i can't say it will be entertaining because it seemed as if the movie didn't have a plot to begin with.
