@exsees2112 Don't get me wrong - as entertainers go, Elvis is my ace. I saw this flick 3 times in '65 - '66, loved it. Saw it on TV I guess in the '70s and all I could see was something he should not have done. He and Fabares were too old for it. As beachmovies go, it's pretty damm good. But think of what he coulda-shoulda. He was a very strong actor - I think better than Cary Grant and Burt Reynolds and Paul Newman and alot of them. The songs are passable I guess but the mix is horrible. Thnx.
@pbpplt Final reply - No Elvis, no Beatles. Both changed music but I do think the Beatles changed more of the world. That said It's almost the "who's better the Beatles or the Stones" argument. Who cares I own all there albums and wanted them both to be great. I hate the comparison stuff. Leave that to sports performances.
@pbpplt I was in the Dakota on 12/8/80. Familiar date? I actually witnessed the still living Lennon being put in the squad car to go to the hospital. The following week was wall to wall people morning. I was there. to this day the Dakota is a tourist destination, yes more subdued than Graceland but, it is an apartment building with other tenants.Point is you can't make the statement you made because you can't make the comparison.
@pbpplt George's home was a little bigger and had a bathroom. Paul and John's Aunt Mimi's houses were very small Queens / Brooklyn. Elvis grew up country bumpkin [not to be offensive - just to show contrast] What people visit is his mansion.
@pbpplt Fortunately Paul and Ringo are still around and it would be rude to go there homes. same is true of Lennon's and Harrison's families. where all these folks [all 5 - Elvis and all 4 Beatles] grew up is not an amazing site. Ringo's house is the equivalent of my garage except instead of side by side it's up and down with an outhouse. The woman who lives there now has a bowl for donations to a free tour thru it. It's very small.
a mediocre tune but Elvis gets the most out of it. He's not into-it and who could blame. My theory about the sped-up master is that what was needed to snugly fit the opening credits of the film. a shame that a great backing band is pushed so far back - even in '12!

Sorry for the long response but as i wrote it I was watching this video and jamming to it on my acoustic. I guess that means I love the tune.
