The training of a hexapod to walk using genetic algorithms. The training is performed virtually and then applied on the physical robot.

  • This is great. As soon as we get a proper quantum computer can create a universe with life forms in it that evolve.

  • A quantum computer would definitely start a new era in artificial evolution. I'm not sure that simulation can utilize quantum computation, perhaps a kinetic model where the movenents are calculated instantanously would work. Guess the big question is weather it is necessary to have search optimizations at all, if a quantum computer will be able to search the whole state space.

    What physics engine and 3D software did you use to program the simulation?

  • Tanks, I'm using jME2 for graphics and jME physics, which is an interface between jME and ODE. But I think the new jME3 now comes with physics included.
