Kevin Schwantz gives us his take on the new AMA/DMG regime and weighs in on the Buell and Aprilia running in the Daytona Sportbike class. Controversy ensued as Danny Eslick put the Buell on the box twice at the Suzuki Superbike Challenge at Auto Club Speedway over the weekend. The list of motorcycles eligible for competition in the 2009 Daytona Sportbike class include: Aprilia RSV, BMW HP2 Sport, Buell 1125R, Ducati 848, Honda CBR600RR, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, KTM Super Duke, Suzuki GSX-R600, Triumph Daytona 675 and Yamaha YZF-R6.
Kevin was diplomatic and rightfully so at that stage of the season. Even Mladin was in a "give'em a chance" mode there for awhile. It was the Laguna Seca pace car deal that finally unhinged everybody.. Oh well.

Go Kevin!
Shame what has happened to AMA. That 1987 season feels like another world compared to what is happening now.
