American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles brought its YOUTH DISASTER SAFETY PUPPET SHOW to the First Annual Emergency Preparedness Event September 11, 2011, at the Sherman Oaks Galleria. Incorporating Sesame Street characters, youth volunteers performed as puppeteers and put on the live puppet show for children and their parents.
"Stop, Drop, and Roll" features an educational introduction followed by a lively rockin' music revue and is suitable for children to watch at home. Two other puppet shows, "Beat the Quake," and "Crawl Low in Smoke" were also performed that day.
Presented by LA Fifth District Councilmember Paul Koretz, the First Annual "Emergency Preparedness Event" was a three-hour educational fair bringing together representatives from a dozen community and local agencies.
Organizations represented included the American Red Cross, Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Fire Department, Community Emergency Response Team, LA Animal Services, LA Department of Water & Power, The Gas Company, Sherman Oaks Neighborhood Council, Encino Chamber of Commerce, Encino Neighborhood Council, Community Police Advisory Board and V5 Watch.
