I saw the movie and liked it. Not amazing, though it definitely had potential to be. Still a good movie with decent acting, I liked John Cusack in this movie. I'd give it between a 7.5-8/10

I watched this on Netflix last night. I don't know where all the negative reviews from critics came from because I thought it was a lot of fun. 8/10 for me.

Okay I see were you coming from now. Why did they name it the raven if they were basing it just off his life? Should of gave it a different title instead cause I was thinking they were basing it off the actually poem...now im wishing they did.

The movie is not a film adaption of the poem. I don't know why they named it the raven, other than it is Edgar's most famous work. That's what people are misunderstanding, is that it's not a movie based on the raven poem, it's just a fictional story made about Edgar Allan Poe. That is for some reason titled "The Raven."

Um...It should fit the poem,. How are you going to make a movie based off a book or poem but then not follow it? I understand that some directors have to "wing it" in some scenes in movies, so they can add more to the story so the rest of the movie/storyline will make sense but otherwise you follow the rest. Its like battleship, they wrote a whole bunch of nonsense then just put it in the movie when battleship should been based off of WW1. But Rihanna was their meal ticket so they didnt care.

Personally, I believe the movie was structured for Poe's fans specifically, but it is made in a way that people who are not familiar with is work can still understand and enjoy the story. So if you are a fan of Poe's work, I highly recommend the movie.

Okay, first off, did she say 1408 was good stuff?

Second off, we are comparing Edgar Allan Poe to Sherlock Holmes? What the hell? Sherlock was a fictional character, Edgar was an actual poet! The movies were completely different! Of course Sherlock is a better action hero, Edgar is not supposed to be.

The movie is structured for people who actually read Poe and appreciate his work, and it is more for his fans than simple action movie lovers. So I think in some ways, the move is over looked.

It is not supposed to fit the poem. It is titled that so that people will know it is an Edgar Allan Poe movie. Many people do not know or read Edgar Allan Poe, but it is common knowledge that he wrote "The Raven." It is his most famous work. So no, the movie is not going to fit the poem.
