Per a request, this is the cast-on and first 4 rounds, worked on dpns. It's a little fast but I was racing the unusual patch of silence! (It's kind of like the Cspan of knitting. It's real time, and it's boring....)
Lighter circular cast on 8st
r1: k1, 2yo, k1 ] four times, splitting each repeat to a separate needle
r2: k2, p1, k1] four times
r3: k2, yo, k2
r4: k2, kfb, k2
Usually I work Continental Combined, but I worked standard Continental on the purls this time. I work a lot of projects from the center out, and the increase rate of 8st per 2r of stockinette (or 4st per round, or 12st per 3r, etc) is pretty standard for something flat. This is not a pattern I have worked before, but the basic principle is the same across the board even if the specific stitch choices are not always the same.

Thank you! It was so helpful to view this longer video. How
you hold the yarn was quite visible and helpful to me. That
cast on is fabulous! Thx again.

Thank you. I found the cast on especially useful. It looks as if it will be a beautiful afghan.
