The GT LTS-2 was named 1996 Mountain Bike of the Year. I bought mine then for $2,800 and I still ride it (in Mexico, MOAB, California). I have used and abused it beyond imagination and for thousands of miles...

Never has let me down. Hands down, the best cross country bike of all time. Powerful climbing and fast descent. The only weaknesses are that disks brakes cannot be adapted and the 80mm fork travel, which at the time it was a lot. The infamous squeaky noise was never a problem.

these were great bikes back in the day but the squeaking problem really was its biggest failure. i remember mine had a rubber rear shock and broke after weeks of use so gt sent me nice new lts3000.
