www.rayman4449.dynip.com - A demo of how smoothly the Protosound 2 system can control multi-engine consists with a heavy load up a steep grade and do it at a creek speed (1 SMPH). Very impressive performance.

4 Norfolk Southern + 1 SantaFe Aristocraft Dash-9s pull the 60 car coal train. Was breaking in the new engines after just installing MTH DCS Protosound 2, so that is why the ditchlights and headlights were turned on for all the units.

  • Love it!

    Just one question:

Does track moisture (rain) affect the track at all?

  • @bartybum Thank you :) No moisture doesn't affect it at all as it's all stainless steel. It eliminates the issues of the traditional brass track oxidation.

  • Love it!!

    Battery or track power?

  • @98snakeeater Thank you. Track power. With Stainless Steel track and clamps you never have power conductivity problems and never have to clean the track.

    Interesting....

My entire layout is brass, but it spans around my saltwater pool (yes, salt water), so the cleaning car with the rubbing block is pretty much a daily chore.

My FA/FB used to get hickups from time to time, then I daisy chained them and they run much smoother now.

  • @98snakeeater Very interesting on the salt water pool, didn't realize they had those but it makes sense. Hmmm I would bet the SS would be better as it's not easy to corrode with moisture, chemicals, etc. As long as you have a process to get it working ok then sounds like you good. Maybe you could buy a section or two of SS rail and see how it helps your corrosion problem and then possibly switch over at some point if it does. Good luck.

  • OMG! That is AWESOME.

  • Sir.. that is a VERY long train!

  • i LOVE american trains!!!!

  • @TheMaus9 Hi there, that is a good question. I haven't counted the coal trains locally in this configuration lately, but it will likely be between 100-120 cars using 100 ton hoppers.
