A few people asked me to show how to play this song. So, here it is.

Im no guitar teacher or Camera expert.....hence the low quality.

I also didnt make any great effort to get the sound of my guitar anything like it is on the record but the notes are still in the right places!

There is a whole load of different places to play this song.....on my older video i play it in a different place but still play the same notes.....In this video i have tried to play it in an easier way for people to play with lesser experience. Some people who have the TAB book will say it is played with a detuned top E and a capo on the second fret. I cant be arsed messing with a different tuning and,in my opinion, it makes harder to play the main riff of the song. Also, I dont think Johnny boy uses a capo when he plays it either.

Any questions then feel free to mail me -

  • Cracking stuff thorman.... The more people who play the roses the better!

  • awesome, but it seems like you are playing some parts slightly different than you did in the 'cover' video. or maybe i just missed some stuff when you were going full speed - lol.

    thanks for the how-to.

  • I play all the same notes in this video as my last but i play them at different parts of the neck. Ive done it that way because its easier for brginners to play it that way without having to stretch too much or have to use their little finger. What specific bit are you stuck on? I might be able to help.

  • Fantastic lesson mate

    what a great song

any chance you could do the same for Sally Cinamon

    cheers

  • Thanks...When i get time i will. It took me ages just to do this one.

It also depends on the kind of feedback i get. If people seem to like it then i'll do the songs people ask me for. It's difficult to know how to show someone the music through a video camera. If this video style isnt seemed to be much use then i'll have to try another way of showing people things.

  • cheers for this mate I've only been playing about 5 months (and electric for only 2 of them) and I've got all this down just got to do the last bit after the solo ends on E at 9th fret. spent like 6 hours learning this today but it's been worth it.

you're a really good teacher keep it up

  • Cool, thanks

  • I have a huge tip for you that will make you happy......

    at 2:19 try the following tab on the A & E string instead: 0 0 2 0 4 0 0 5 4 0 2 4 2 0

  • well done mate, you've cracked that I reckon.

By any chance do you know the "bass" to elephant stone ?

  • brilliant mate. please tutor this lesser mortal on i wanna be adored !

  • @Rowleyuk

not stuck, actually learned to play it off your previous video. that's how i noticed you are using different fingerings to play the same chords.

  • Great video, thanks. The tab in the book with the drop-tuning and the capo put me off learning. Are there other songs that the book has wrong (different to what Squire actually plays)?
