Mark Bee and his students study how female frogs select mates from a chorus of male frogs based on the vocal characteristics of individual male frogs. The findings could be used to design hearing aids that help the wearer distinguish individual sounds in environments with many sounds or background noise - something that those with hearing disorders often have trouble doing.
