A compilation of several Amtrak clips featuring the Empire Builder, Coast Starlight, and Cascades trains, in Oregon and Washington State. The first upload was damaged, so I'm trying it again.

  • I've happened to always hit the coldest cars. Last time I got a train from Tampa, FL to Raleigh, NC, 15 and half hours overnight ride, I was freezing so bad (suitcase in cargo) so I needed to sleep in the dining car :p. If you are travelling around the states, I would recommend to rent a car and if necessary, catch a plane.

  • Things have been made too complicated. If you put a bag to cargo, you need to wait for it in a BAGGAGE CLAIM for only God knows how long :/. It's easier in smaller stations though.

The coach seats anyway are very comfortable and you have a power supply for each passenger. Staff is nice and once you are in the train, it's great. Sometimes though the A/C varies a lot. The temperature in most of the train cars is comfortable, but in some cars you will freeze and the conducters can do nothing.

  • The sights might be excellent sometimes, especially at the mountains, but Amtrak itself and the US railway network is the worst I have ever seen. Trains don't go where you want to go and if they go they go totally wrong time (once or twice a day except some places).

The connections to other trains are poor. An eight-hour waiting time is nothing unusual, many stations don't have any Amtrak staff at all.

  • Cool vid.

  • Great Video... been on both the Cascades from Seattle to Vancouver, BC ... and the Coast Starlight LAX to SEA

  • nice!

  • Give us THE noice and not music.

  • By "it" I mean that song.
