  • Sorry woman, but you sent riot police to break up a peaceful demonstration. You can resign with some dignity, or be kicked out with none. Your choice.

After all, in her interview she states concern that students were going to be there over the weekend, and then has the nerve to say that the police were only sent to "remove equipment, not people!" For a lady so concerned with the health and safety of her students, sending riot police to them was a pretty stupid decision.

  • @gotlibertygirl29 I doubt she did anything inappropriate to get the job - those positions are usually political anyway, offered by a board of directors, who are usually the rich people that donate to the school, as a tax shelter.

  • @carlotta4th Calling you out might be aggressive, but it serves to expose your silly behavior. Massing on the commons and not dispersing when instructed does not show good faith in public safety and the very use of the name "Occupy" means you intend to preclude the movement of people and goods. That is not protected speech or assembly.

  • @AynManRand You obviously haven't read up on this event. It was not a mob, they were not throwing rocks or disrupting classes... it was a peaceful protest. In fact, you're being far more aggressive than these students ever were--and to complete strangers, too!

Next time do a bit of research before you comment, eh?

  • @carlotta4th Shut up scumbag interloper. I don't send my kids to university so they have to dodge chanting mobs who may or may not be throwing rocks or disrupting classes. Those dumbasses have a school paper and hundreds of hours of social media experience and a myriad of their options to express there displeasure with "capitalism" or banks or whatever.

  • This woman trustworthy as a rattlesnake. She sends the police in. Then she defends the police action until the heat gets too much to take. Then she removes support for the police and claims that she is on the side of the students and claims that she is very sorry for what happened.

    ...

What this obtuse woman doesn't realize is that she is responsible for the police action and she failed in her job to protect the students entrusted in her care. She and the police must go.

  • Katehi must go.

  • Students were not blocking anything. My daughter walks there everyday but she never felt bothered by the protesters. There is a huge error in the design of the Centennial walkway; it does not lead anywhere. It is just a symbolic but useless path.I went to the protesting site. The students were peacefully gathering and it was clean. One of the students who was pepper sprayed and arrested didn't receive medical treatment for four hours. Katehi didn't stop police and didn't rescue the students.

  • @NoOne3234 you make an excellent point. At every university where I have worked, I have known faculty who refuse to associate with administrators beyond formal department business. At first I did not understand faculty disdain for presidents, provosts and other academic administrators. After 20 years I clearly understand why many faculty feel the way they do. Figuratively I have seen academic administrators throw pepper spray in the faces of faculty and university staff like myself.

  • @Jeepguy255 Do administrators actually care what the faculty and staff think? It was my understanding that high ranking college administrators were rarely well liked by the faculty and were often despised. No normal person would have hired her, especially considering her proximity to the clout scandal at Illinois.

  • Who the fucks is this yittish speaking babling scum and why is it the president of anything??? Someone please kill this foreign trash !!!

  • Having working at Univ of Illinois and knowing a number of faculty and staff at Purdue, I do not know who U C Davis called for references on Katehi. I cannot find anyone at either institution who has anything good to say about her. If I go an apply for a 40K program assistant job, universities are calling my employers from 15 years ago. For the chancellors job at UC Davis the screening is not so thorough.
