A dedicated jump cue like Predator Air Jump, a screwed down Break/Jump cue or if you don't play in tournaments, where shaft jumps aren't allowed a shaft from a break cue (requires a harder tip) with either hard leather or a phenolic tip. Normal cues also work but are difficult to jump with especially in matches.

The important thing when you jump a ball is to come down on the cue ball, on the top half of the ball, approximately 45 degrees or more, depending on the length of the jump, closer the jump the bigger the angle, and most importantly, you will need a jump cue with a very hard tip, bunjee, or something rated over 90 on a scale of tip hardness. I hope that helps joe wizard. From my experience, I am no pro, but jump with ease, HARD TIP AND CORRECT ANGLE.
