This video clip is based on Part One of a 1983 radio interview between the Belgian writer Suzanne Lilar (1901-1992) and Laurence Cossé (Radio France Culture, 29.ix.1983). Video montage by S. Fredericq.

After a brief biographical summary, Lilar talks about her book "La Confession Anonyme", a neoplatonic idealization of love filtered through personal experience. The Belgian film director André Delvaux (1926-2002) recreated this novel on film as "Benvenuta" in 1983, transposed as an intense examination of a tortured but exalted relationship between a young Belgian woman and her Italian lover.

"La confession anonyme" is a book about the ceremonial of Love in terms of initiation and revelation of profane love. The essential theme of the book is that when profane love aims sufficiently high, it reaches the same slope as divine love.

In the movie "Benvenuta", Vittorio Gassman plays Livio and Benvenuta is played by Fanny Ardent (young) and Françoise Fabian (old). With Matthieu Carrière.
