The smallest welder ever made!!! Miller Maxstar 85s

Stick Welding with the Miller Maxstar 85s amazing little machine....to bad it's obsolete now :( this thing weighs only 8 lbs. !!!!

I have some RADNOR 6010-1/8" welding rods.that have a redish look have you ever used them be for?

I cant even weld with them could they be old?

but hobart rods work good

@SpeedyChevy72 6010 is a pipe root rod it welds funny by nature (something like a 6011) but a different coating they really spray and are good for keyholing a pipe root mostly used in pressure pipe welding

Too versatile of a machine to sell at a profit. Light, simple, variable, 110V DC? You could stick weld aluminum with this. My old 110V AC Lincoln is clueless. Plus it weighs 70 lbs and only has 50, 75, and 100 amps.

@petersenj20 all 110 volt machines are useless next to this thing.....it can actually do a secure weld with 1800 watts!!

I would try firepower 3/32 7018 rod if you think the old hobart rod is great. I like hobart rod too, but at welding school we got 50lb boxes of firepower and its just as good. Hate lincoln rod for the most part. There is a new bread of welder that I would look at for a replacement to these and thats the everlast or longevity 140 dc stick tig welders. run on 110 or 220.

RADNOR brand (AirGas) is pure CRAP!!!! I think sometimes that RADNOR and Harbor Freight get their stick electrodes and mig wire from the same place. A Chinese scrap yard!!!!! Lincoln or Hobart sticks and wire are the ONLY welding consumables to buy!

...I missed where the guy said what kind of electrode that was...but the slag looks like it's 7018. You can still get that from 3/32" up to at least 5/32". Great for vert-up multi-pass on plate.

6010 is almost always red...run it DC reverse only...pipe welding. 6011 is for AC, not very good looking welds, cannot pass any certs...mainly for guys with just a buzz-box...often the 6011 isreferred to as 'Farmer Rod'... Unfortunately, RADNOR is the Air-gas 'house' brand, most is from China...Just better to pay more and get Lincoln or Hobart rods...

yeah,they still make that rod. i use it all the time to shrink valve seats when removing them. i don't know if you have an outlet nearby you, but northern tool sells them down here in florida.
