Note on D.W. Griffith Movies

Explanation on why I will not be doing reviews for the following movies from 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die: Intolerance (1916), Broken Blossoms (1919), Way Down East (1920), and Orphans of The Storm (1921).

Couldn't disagree with you more. Everybody makes mistakes. Yeah, DW made a big one. But Intolerance was a huge muti-million dollar (in todays money and then!) attempt at REDEMPTION. What more do you want from a person? Broken Blossoms is one of the best movies of all time, and it will move you. What I think you should have done is watched those movies and *not* Birth of a Nation, if you find it so offensive. Your message here is that redemption isn't possible, so why try? I find that sad.

I disliked Birth of a Nation and Intolerance, but liked the three others, even loved Broken Blossoms.

TOO BAD FOR YOU...as much as I detest Griffith's racism, Orphans of the Storm is one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen (with the Willam Perry piano score). Pity you, pity you.
