MiCAST (Mobile Information Crisis Action Support Team) is an on-call disaster response information service that combines the immediacy of radio, the flexibility of the Internet and the capabilities of cutting-edge social media. MiCAST partners with existing resources in an affected area - such as radio stations, colleges, local residents, emergency responders, non-profits and charitable organizations - and expands their ability to provide timely, on-the-ground information in the first-person through a spectrum of social media, video and mobile communications. Instant and actionable information is gathered and deployed through an aggregated and integrated communications network that combines old media, new media and first-hand reporting critical to saving lives and accelerating recovery.
