@anonUK Oh right. Sorry about that, misread it.

I think you missed the point of my post, which was a reply to a complete idiot who thought British music was just about specific places and people and had no universal references. The music you mentioned obviously refers to specific states but have some universal applicability.

Northeast of England. The north east of the UK stretches from Fife to the Shetlands (at least, until the Scots leave).

This is clearly because all American songs are about universal subjects and none of them are remotely Americo-centric or nostalgic about particular regions or states. They are also all immensely musically sophisticated, in keeping with the advanced musical palate of the American consumer.
An American neologism for a person arguing this sort of thing might be... f*cktard.

Liked this since I first heard it, but in Africa, we were never going to see these guys...was introduced by a Geordie lass in Lusaka, Zambia, early 1970s. Odd-looking bunch - but such good songs!

Sorry to hurt anybody's feelings but this song is similar to the stuff you here on the disney channel that my almost 5 year old song listens to.
Maybe singing about river fog and greasy bangers is sentimental for brits but I am not a brit so I don't appreciate it.

..The Beatles and The Who also wrote songs similar to the stuff you hear (sic) on the Disney channel that my almost 3 year old daughter listens to. Still great songs, though...
