sumner gallatin tennessee illegal traffic stop detention arrest cop police ticket

Lights were inoperable so I stopped as required by TCA 55-8-110(c). Cop pulls me over for obstructing traffic. There was no plastic over the lights. The cop lied several times. First he says the lights were covered. Then he says inoperable lights are not considered stop signs. Then he writes me for ticket for failure to provide proof of insurance, when I complain and tell him it is illegal for him to do so he says, "you just talked yourself into a ticket." I went to the police department to complain and was assaulted by the officer's sergeant. I tried to get the video from the cop station, but they refused. The Lieutenant in charge said he will not reprimand the officer because he did nothing wrong.

Your failure to stop would be a violation of the motor vehicle code. Assault and battery may be felony violations.

@toptruckracer Slamming into someone because they stopped in the middle of the road wouldn't be a violation of anything, and you'd be getting a ticket (as you did), and the latter crime would be aggravated battery with great bodily harm, cause you'd be in the hospital for at least six months when I ask, "wtf dude, why did you just stop", and you say, "it looked like that light was malfunctioning". Six months bro, six months..

I didn't stop in the "middle" of the road. I stopped at an intersection where the light was not working/malfunctioning. Stopping at such intersections is a requirement of law. If you are older than 16 and drive a motor vehicle I suggest you educate yourself.

Ok people since you all hate cops so much, how bout we get rid of every type of law enforcement for say a month or so. Then when some thug steals all your stuff, rapes your wife,daughter, or etc, and there's no one to call you'll realize that you do need them. You'll hate them till you need them. Don't hate Leos for what they do it's their job they have families to support. At least they actually work.

What we don't like are the pigs who are incompetent, ignorant, and those who willingly violate rights. Included in that list are cops who cover up or back up their pig brothers who have broken the law.

look its simple..... if a cop likes you ...or your a menber of the police force a judge politian or even a freind......you will not get a ticket.....

so the police know on the radio that he has concealed gun permit i thought they cant have gun registration, to be legal to carry concealed you have to get permit but that is gun registration complete treason on the police department and there computer system to know that is none of no one buisness

anybody notice how the cop touches the car in the area of the the tail light? they do that to prove that they stopped that vehicle in case of any future issues if they come up
