Grumman F-14s & Employees In Iran, Part 2

Second part of a 1977 Grumman promo for the Iran F-14 contract, focusing on the effort to provide for thousands of American employees and their families in the midst of massive culture shock. Not depicted is that the IIAF (and later the IRIAF) suceeded in supporting this complex aircraft on their own after the contractors departed. The IRIAF continues to field many of them today, visible in Google Earth. The school scenes are of the American School Of Isfahan, my alma mater.

i will say some thing that none of youu will like but i still will say it.

those 80 tomcats costed us(iran) 2 billions of dollars at that time which was a lot of money while we did not have enough to give electricity and paved ways to many of our villages and many other necessary things like agriculture and etc.

which one is more important a powerful army with nuclear power or social reforms?

this video shows that the west was trying to westernize iran in culture and behaviour. the biggest problem with the pahlavi dynasty was they didnt know the difference bewteen westernization and modernization they thougth its the same thing the pahlavi dynasty was still a very good government.irans future government should be based on nationalism and democracy then iran/persia can be modernized and strong and at the same time keep its culture and behaviour.

That was what many people thought at the time and protested the Shah spending so much money on the military. Saddam would never have dreamed of attacking Iran in those days. You are right , it is sad for countries to spend money on arms when people are in need.

Too bad the Iranian Revolution ruined this friendship that could have been... I'll bet if it happened a lot earlier, Iran would not have had any F-14s.
