After enjoying success in various sports car series, Roger Penske's attention turned to Indy Cars when driver Mark Donohue was invited to drive in a race by a leading team. While Penske made Donohue decline, he purchased an Indy Car. Donohue went on to win Rookie of the Year honors at Indianapolis in 1969 and won the 1972 Indianapolis 500 — the first of 14 triumphs at the Brickyard for Penske Racing.   • the turbine did not run in 1982. It was outlawed by USAC.

  • how did the famous stp turbine do in 1972

  • Really good video but the pictures don't always match the commentary. Would be nice to see the old Eagle and Lola in pictures, too!
