After all that, and please from the victim's family, friends and community the driver still doesn't turn himself in. Only after a reward prompts someone to report the car described on every radio and TV station in town does the driver run out and get a lawyer to escort him into the custody of police. The driver obviously had no intention of surrendering. He just knew the car would lead police to him and that the reward meant he couldn' t find anyone to repair the car or drive across the border.

It's one thing to be speeding on city streets. It's another thing to not at least slow down when you see people crossing the street - regardless of the time. It's another thing to be driving so recklessnessly you crash into one of those people. It's another thing to KEEP DRIVING or SPEED UP after the person you hit gets caught under your car instead of stopping. It's another to continue, after grinding the person off, to continue driving on city streets at over 100mph. Throw the book at him!
