The effectiveness of chemotherapy in cancer treatment is determined by the cytotoxicity of the DNA damage that is induced by the chemotherapeutic agents. However, DNA damage is repaired through different biochemical systems, referred to as DNA repair pathways, and these dynamical repair processes can result in resistance to cancer therapies.
