Blists Hill Victorian Town is one of the ten Ironbridge Gorge Museums sites. The ironworks is used to recycle scrap wrought iron, in this case heavy mooring chain. Wrought iron is almost pure iron mixed with silica slag and the billets rolled at ironbridge go on to be rolled down further to produce stock for conservation work. • Excellent coverage of the process. Looks like you were able to get up really close and see things from interesting angles.

  • Just paid a visit to Blists Hill a couple of weeks ago - sadly the ironworks is not working now. I have generations of ancestors who were iron puddlers so it was really interesting to see a Victorian Ironworks - One of the Blists Hill staff did give a very informative tour.
