  • Hi mate. Cheers for all the info. I bought one. I actually really like it so far. Have only really packed it and pulled it around a bit, but will use it for a trip this month. Holds all my summer kit fine and feels a comfortable carry. I took your advice and i am using a foam sit pad at 26 grams to add thickness to the back. Love the hip pockets, agree that the side pockets are just too shallow! Whilst the pack feels slightly flimsy, I think it may actually be fairly strong. Only time will tell

Sounds great. I think I agree with you that it is probably tougher than it feels. I will be carrying mine again on an overnight this weekend and looking forward to it. The more I use it, the more I like the front zip entrance. I would just suggest to be very careful while pulling on the side compression straps. Those hypalon tabs that the cord is running through will tear apart pretty easily. Check out my recent day hike gear list video to see what I am talking about. Have fun!

  • Cheers for this mate. I have been looking at this pack with the view to use it for 3 day summer trips with my lightweight kit. I like terra nova and the design and weight of the pack are good. Same about the durability it seems. How do u think it would carry with a 9 kg load in it? How much weight did you have in there? Thanks.

  • @bsdowling

I think that might be ok, but it may be getting close to pushing it. I put a piece of blue ccf pad in the back in addition to the pad that came in it so it creates a nice solid back panel and it probably helps with the weight distribution a tad. This trip I had around 12-13 pounds with the water. And like I said, the pack did fine with all the limbs and such, but I will still watch it over time. Of course though the little tabs for the compression cords don't work.

  • Hi mate, have you managed to use this pack yet? Would love to see a review as I can't find much online about it and am thinking of getting one. Cheers.

The one thing that I still worry about though is its long term durability. It made it fine today with the branches rubbing against it, but I wonder how this super thin material will hold up over time. Hope this helps some.

  • Oops meant shame not same.

I love the front zipper access though. And I love that they put hip belt pockets on it. Today I kind of did a little bushwhacking because the trails were so overgrown and it did fine. Another this is the shoulder straps are a little wide, but so far has not posed a problem. I also like the zippered pocket on the top side. It is a great place to store keys and phones rather than in my pockets, or in the main compartment where it is easily lost.

I actually just got back from a day hike this morning using it. I have only used it on one other day hike so far. After using it, I like it enough to continue to use it for smaller hikes, however, there are a few things I am not too fond of. the Hypalon straps that the bungee cords are run through to cinch the bag down with smaller loads simply do not hold and tear out. It needs stronger material such as a small nylon loop. Also, the side pockets are tiny. I wish they were bellowed.

  • @hikingshoes

That it would! I have thought about that...just waiting on the chance...you gonna be there, right?
