Small government, budget cuts, stopping abortion, contraception, hating on gays and doing interventionist democracy with bombs and guns in Iraq and Afghanistan are part of the explanation of that.

And also the US not wanting to be the foremost superpower (that's ok, I'm not from there, I don't mind).

Main reason, war. War is just so stupidly expensive.

is it possible to generate some extra energy from the rest protons on the "final wall"?

(like, for a cxoffe mashine or light in laboratory)

It's not that our government is too small--it could easily afford a collider like the LHC. It's the fact that it's too big in all the wrong places--particularly the things you mentioned.

Who do I hate? I guess I strongly dislike people who think depriving women of their reproductive rights is wonderful and that it's ok to say gays deserve to be killed, imprisoned or harassed, because "icky". Happily to say I don't think all Americans think that.

cont... Long term economics eventually win the day, and it's always the same story, all a country can do is to build a system that's prepared

E.g. Human rights, freedom of speech, democracy etc

In the big picture, in terms of stability, these things often mean shit when times are good. They are neglected.

    But in bad times...

Churchill puts it down great "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time."

    China is not unique.

I was btw just thinking of common business cycle recessions. Which I believe can be a real threat to the Chinese communist party in the future unless they reform.

Now you also have the rarer and much longer systemic financial crisis'.(like the one just now! :D) These can threaten the stability of any form of government, and will decimate an authoritarian one.

History has shown that often when it's too late for reforms(building a smokestack)

Non-democratic governments will turn to nationalism, extreme forms, and reverse the threat outwards, to regain stability.

    Which is never good.
