If you have reviewed the installation instructions for this hitch do not let them overwelm you! Installation is really easier than it may sound. In this video Joe installs the Hidden Hitch Class I custom fit receiver on a 2005 Mazda 3. Watch the video and you will see that the drilling required is only enlarging some existing holes and how to efficiently thread the bolts into position using fish wires. If you have any questions after watching this please give us a call!

Step one, if your vehicle contains them, is to remove these two retaining clips that are holding the underside of the fascia to the trunk pan here. That is going to allow us access for the hitch tube to go up and behind here. We are underneath the vehicle now and I will point out which holes need to be enlarged to a half inch. On the underside bumper here we need to enlarge this hole and on the side of the frame we are enlarging this hole. Then over here on the passengers side it is going to be this hole in the bumper, and this one on the side of the frame. We just finalized enlarging the existing holes and we are going to use these fish wires to pull the bolts through the frame and into position. For the hole at the bottom of the frame, we are going to have to fish it through to the end of the metal bumper here. There is a hole at the end there.

It is probably a good idea to do the ones on the bumper first, then you can put the hitch up into position and mount it with those two fasteners then you can do the ones on the side of the frame. Now that we have the bolts fished to their proper holes, I am going to get the hitch into position. With the bolts mounted loosely into the bumper we are going to fish the bolts into the side of the frame. For the ones of the side of the frame, we are going to fish through the end of the frame here and pull it out right there. You want to put the block into place and wrap the bolt. Now that we have all four fasteners up into position, we want to torque them down. The torque rating for these bolts is going to be 50 foot pounds. After the bolts are torqued down, the installation is complete. Do not forget if you have these fascia fasteners, to put those back in place. This concludes the installation of hitch # 60999 on a 2005 Mazda 3.

  • can this mazda 6 tow a 14' fiberglass boat

  • @stanho123 You will need to consult your owner's manual to determine what the weight limits of your car are. For safety reasons, you can never exceed the limits of your gross tow weight rating or the tongue weight rating of your vehicle. When considering if you can tow the 14 foot boat, you must take into account what the boat and trailer weigh. If that does not exceed your vehicle's limits, you would be able to tow the boat.

  • Is it normal that I can't find part # 60999 on your website? Your website actually suggests part # 24816 or #60201. I guess installation would be exactly the same? I have a Mazda 3 sport GT 2004! Thx a lot

  • @Marketingavenir It is normal. We have replaced # 60999 with # 60201. The installation will be the same. Please let me know if you have any questions.

  • Do you currently ship your hitches to other countries including Australia?

  • Unfortunately, we do not ship to Australia. At this time we are only able to ship throughout the US and to Canada
