matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are the invisible modelers of the blood vessel formation.
Angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels from pre-existing ones, is a key event in tumour progression controlled by a balance between positive and negative regulators.
Positive regulators include at least vascular endothelial growth factor
family (VEGF-A, -B, -C, -D), fibroblast growth factors (FGF), placental-like growth factor (PlGF), angiopoietins, their tyrosine kinase receptors (VEGF-R1, -R2; Tie1 and Tie2) and neuropilin-1 (NRP-1), a co-receptor for VEGF.

  • Nice job :)

  • alguem poderia traduzir o video para portugues );

  • I LOVE IT

  • Very good video about the basics of angiogenesis. There is also good info written in the description of this video. For those interested about the topic, I would recommend Olsson et al. "VEGFR signaling in control of vascular function" and Ferrara et al. "Angiogenesis as a therapeutic target" for introductional reading. Both can be found in Nature reviews.
