Thank you for sharing. Very educational and a little funny at the end. Glad you are OK. Its because of this video i always fly with a safetyline and HMS. It has happened to my mate in Germany and he could ancor himself, get out of the harnass make a safe decent to fly again. Dont leave home without it.

Amazing video Joe! Your one lucky and funny Pilot! I was waiting for a blood curdiling scream at the end or even worse silence! But instead a priceless! "well I'm on the ground now"! fair play for keeping a cool head the whole way through, scary experience even on video!

I have watched this video over and over in grate detail. The locked in spiral was a result of the pilot holding on the left brake (1:18), Im guessing he was holding the riser with the brake loop around his wrist in a state of shock (understandable).If he had gone hands up at 1:03 it looks like all would have sorted itself out. This is not a criticism of him at all just an observation from a comfortable computer chair.
His final words on the video are priceless "im on the ground now"!!!
