I understand the middle class pays a lot in income taxes, but if i'm understanding what he's saying correctly, under the fairtax, assuming it's revenue neutral, the middle class would be paying even more.

But what you're saying is incorrect, consumption does not take a toll on the economy, it's one of the main measures of a healthy economy, an increase in consumption leads to GDP growth, not an increase in savings.

look at who is suggesting this baloney and you find out who is benefiting from it.

It sounds nice and the commercial has a catchy tune but the aftertaste is shitty

Its fair and it eliminates the IRS and put the power of your money back in your hands. you spend it on what you want. Not them you. If it will eliminate the IRS that in itself makes it worth it.

and how is that any different than now? any business that is taxed will ultimately pass that on to the consumer whether w/ or w/out the fair tax in place...any business tax is ALWAYS ULTIMATELY a tax on the consumer..it's why you and I both should be for ZERO taxes on businesses...it promotes growth and eases our tax burden

Bravo! Mr. Bell has nailed the number one reason why the FT has OBJECTIVE moral superiority: Any society that fancies itself as "free" is duty bound to maintain the highest possible level of VOLUNTARY cooperation. While ANY kind of tax is never more than a necessary evil, SOME tax collection methods (like FT) are vastly less evil than others. As it stands now, rank and file Americans have become chattel, with their lives and efforts pledged as collateral for contrived and unnecessary debt.

I think it is you who are brainwashed by your elite who are the benefiters of this "fair tax"

In Denmark we pay 40% income tax and 25% consumer tax and that is what it costs to maintain a civilized society. Of course we have our crazies too who does not want to contribute to the budget, tax evaders and the like but when they get sick and their children needs schooling or education they are there with their hands out claiming their rights. And we do have a right to free education and health care

Not really the case because my understanding is there has to be some kind of justification of need. And it could be put before the Supreme Court, just like with the Affordable Care Act.
