yea need some time to examine, adjust and re-focus on some areas of my life (God, family, work, etc). HHO stuff is on hold till I get some parts in and that the cold weather is playing havoc with my cell (decreased efficiency).

Anyway I wanted you all to know so you dont think I'm a snob.

;)

Take care and see ya soon.

  • You are the man!

    Thanks

  • KOH exclusively.

It doesnt break down at higher temperatures, is more conductive, and lasts longer than Lye.

It is the best electrolyte by far (so far).

    Steve

  • I guess the only way it would be safe to use OxyClean as an electrolyte, would be in a Dry Cell, because you wouldn't be breathing any of the gas.

Not that it matters, I just got 2 lb. bottles of KOH (potassium hydroxide) and Lye (sodium hydroxide) last week.

Since I'm sure you have done thorough testing with KOH and Lye. What would you recommend using?

  • That is because it is:

    Potassium hydroxide 10-30%

    Sodium hydroxide 5-10%

    Sodium hypochorite 12% solution

and various other chlorine based beaching agents. Should work good.

    Be careful though....chlorine gas.

    Steve

  • I just stumbled across something. I ran out of sodium hydroxide, so I started looking around the house for a temporary substitute. After trying a few different household items, I tried using a half teaspoon of OxyClean. To my surprise it works as well as sodium hydroxide and doesn't make the water dirty. It even seems like the bubbles pop a little bit louder.
